I implemented my math centers last year at the end of whole group instruction. I would call a group of 2-6 students to my back table. The remaining students would work on math tubs. I used a SmartBoard set up for assigning my students to their math centers. This is the same setup for Daily 5 so the students are aware of it and follow.

Below are some of my math center activities!

The following snap shots come from my Math Centers Super Pack!

Mrs. Lirette's Learning DetectivesMath tubs are an amazing invention. So simple, but yet incredibly effective. I have all sorts of shirts that I like to try and wear that go along with teaching subjects. I have a math, reading and several other cute designs. Teachershirts.com has several school related shirts that not only I love but my fellow staff love as well.

ReplyDeleteIt is very easy for parents to get wrapped up in themselves and their child and place blame. But that is simply not the case here. My child does many things at a level beyond his own age, and he is still happy and learning and stimulated enough at this school.

ReplyDeleteHow do I purchase the above bundle?

ReplyDeleteHi! Where did you get the labels for the math manipulatives? Thanks!

Our math instruction sounds very similar. I also teach whole group then small group. I have a power point set up to change every 15 minutes and my students know when they hear the timer go off that means they are to look at the smart board and see where they go next. I have my room set up so they rotate in a circle and it is very similar to the Daily 5 as well. I have been struggling with a way to set up the independent activities a little better and coming up with more activities for them to do. I love the way you have this set up with the tubs and I will be incorporating them into my classroom after Thanksgiving!

ReplyDeleteKindergarten is such a fun year for writing and reading progress. I wish I would have saved more samples from my years of teaching over the years as each kid has such a unique style!

Love your ideas! Just had a quick question. Do you make multiple copies of each activity so that a group of maybe 4 to 5 kids can do the activity at one time?

ReplyDeleteHey there!! : ) I actually just print one set! However, I can totally see it the way you said as well : D

To add on to my previous post for more clarification. Example: Does math tub 8 have 4 copies of the same activity?

ReplyDeleteHey there! It's just one of each activity in the basket :) There are 8 tubs so the kiddos work in groups of 2 on the same activity! Then, I rotate them and they get the chance at a new tub :)
